About
Objective: The Space Employer/University Consortium project is intended to to increase the technical workforce capable of meeting California aerospace needs and to enhance the California academic community's ability to address aerospace industry requirements. To accomplish the objectives, California Innovation Corridor university and industry partners will collaborate to identify opportunities to improve access to space for student projects. This consortium will actively seek aerospace industry support to improve the value of student-based aerospace development efforts. By improving the value of these development efforts, products and technologies can be developed that focus on meeting actual requirements, access to space can be improved, and the educational experience becomes more realistic. One of the many collateral benefits of the project will be the development of a university/industry collaboration model that could be utilized for alternative subject areas. In order to minimize the resources needed the development of a beneficial model, the focus of this university/industry collaboration will be limited to access to space for student projects (payloads and launchers) at this time. Universities and aerospace companies interested in pursuing partnership opportunities must register for the Consortium to obtain access to the network and collaborative workspace. Desired Outcomes: - Establish a collaborative workspace that facilitates the communication of important information, lists significant events, and identifies project opportunities.
- Establish consortium membership among the Corridor industry and academic community.
- Incorporate recommendations on enhancing the consortium model to improve partnering.
