Project Details
3.2 Deliverables
Objective: The Space Employer/University Consortium project was intended to increase the technical workforce capable of meeting California aerospace needs and to enhance the California academic community's ability to address aerospace industry requirements. This consortium was intended actively seek aerospace industry support to improve the value of student-based aerospace development efforts and identify opportunities to improve access to space for student projects. By improving the value of these development efforts, products and technologies could be developed that focus on meeting actual requirements, access to space can be improved, and the educational experience would become more realistic. One of the many collateral benefits of the project was the evaluation of a university/industry collaboration model that could be utilized for alternative subject areas.
During the implementation of this project, CSEWI:
- Established consortium membership among the Corridor industry and academic community. A forum was held with the membership to communicate project goals and objectives.
- Established a collaborative workspace that facilitates the communication of important information, lists significant events, and identifies project opportunities to the consortium membership. Universities and aerospace companies interested in pursuing partnership opportunities were required to register for the Consortium to obtain access to the network and collaborative workspace.
- Developed and documented recommendations on enhancing the consortium model to improve partnering, which included a comparison of the consortium and collaborative workspace model with models of other consortia.
