Information for the Innovation for Aerospace and Space Exploration Video Conferencing Seminar
Objective: The Joint University Innovation Model project aims to establish laboratory-like faculty/graduate student industry internships followed by innovation-focused conferences and "Innovation/Creative Environment" seminar sessions to share outcomes and insights of lab internship experiences. This will be closely coordinated with a parallel task at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). Stanford University and UCR will appoint small teams of faculty, industry professionals and students to complete a short internship (3-5 days) as observers in this highly innovative environment. This team will meet after each internship session to concisely record their observations. The group will complete 2-4 internships over a 3-month period. The team will then work together to create a seminar or seminar sessions to be presented in both the public and academic community within three months of the final internship. These seminars will be presented in Northern and Southern California to disseminate their findings and formulate recommendations on best practices and steps that can be taken to accelerate the pace of commercializing innovation. Desired Outcomes: - Establish a base line for identification of existing research reports that study issues on the innovation environment. - Facilitate transformation of the industrial and academic innovation enterprise by building an understanding of effective practices for how innovation is encouraged and commercialized. - Greater job creation and economic opportunity as a result of new technological concepts.
