Job seekers, both adult and youth, look to the Workforce Partnership for referral to and placement in high quality jobs, and education and training programs. The Workforce Partnership is a partner on two WIRED projects, listed below. Tasks: Project 1.2 - 21st Century Worker Profiles: - Assist partners in developing 21st Century job profiles in the Bio/Pharma, Bio/Info/Nano, and Biomedical Health fields. - Define the workforce skills issues within these industries, based on their projected futures. Project 1.4 - Innovation-Based Entrepreneurial Ventures: - The original SOW was designed to support the design and execution of the Entrepreneurial Summit (CATech 100). SDWP would help design the overall structure of the summit, design and execute a strategy for recruiting WIB participants, design and execute the WIB participant sessions, help design and execute a strategy for recruiting WIB participants and help design and execute the WIB participant sessions. It was realized into the CATech 100 design process that WIBs would not participate due to limited budgets and assisting entrepreneurial was not one of their metrics for evaluation.
Due to this challenge and the non-interest of WIBs to become engaged, the SOW for SDWP was redesigned to develop an interviewing plan, questionnaire, and schedule to determine the best practices among California WIBs. Interviews would be conducted with successful WIB to dig into their programs. As a deliverable, SDWP would Write a "how-to manual" on WIB support for innovation in emerging industries and conference workshop on how WIBs can meet the education and training needs of entrepreneurial companies. Delivered was a 28 page compendium of interviews conducted with 5 innovative WIBs from across California, and the best practices and impacts from each.
