Organization: The South Bay Economic Development Partnership (SBEDP) was created to serve the economic development needs of the 15 South Bay cities, the 15th district of the city of Los Angeles, and Los Angeles County. It supports cities, companies, organizations, educators, and individuals in creating best case practices which promote a better, more livable, and sustainable South Bay economic region of Los Angeles County. Its goal is to create a greater sense of collaboration throughout the South Bay, to ensure that the next 10 years will be even more beneficial to the community as a whole than its last successful decade. SBEDP is a partner on two WIRED projects, listed below. Tasks: Project 1.2 - 21st Century Worker Profiles: - Assist partners in developing 21st Century job profiles in the Bio/Pharma, Bio/Info/Nano, and Biomedical Health fields. - Define the workforce skills issues within these industries, based on their projected futures. Project 3.1 - Workforce Analysis: - With partners, generate a minimum of 200 company responses to the project survey, and develop and publicize a final report of the survey results. - Develop strategies to address identified training and education gaps, and share strategies across the 9 regions and the entire Corridor.
Experience/core competencies: SBEDP is a convener, facilitator, trusted regional partner of government and business, an expert at public/private partnering, and provider of economic data and demographics for this region.
Partnerships with other relevant organizations: SB WIB, CSUDH, El Camino College, LA Harbor College, LAEDC among many others.
