Organization: El Camino College is a two-year community college located in Torrance, California. It provides academic, career and enrichment programs to the cities of Torrance, El Segundo, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Lawndale, Hawthorne, Lennox, and Inglewood. It offers a balanced curriculum based in general education and transfer courses, along with current and relevant vocational and technical programs and instructional programs in developmental education. El Camino College is a partner on two WIRED projects, listed below. Tasks: Project 2.4 - Manufacturing Technician Training Program: - As project lead, conduct a comprehensive industry-driven analysis and validation of accurate workforce assessment instruments for the development of a sequential certification process. - In conjunction with partners, develop a 360-hour certificated manufacturing technology curriculum for students and entry-level and displaced workers. Project 3.5 - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Collaborative Action Plan (STEMCAP): - Work with partners to create a sustainable inter-segmental, public-private collaboration working to support STEM development in grades K-20. - Along with industry and informal science members on the STEMCAP Steering Committee, identify policy barriers throughout development of the Plan.
Experience/core competencies: Economic and workforce development for vocational skills, technical including engineering and Project Lead The Way, import/export, small business development, remedial and basic skills, degree programs.
