Organization: Cal Poly is a nationally ranked, four-year, comprehensive public university, located in San Luis Obispo, California. The University emphasizes a "learn by doing" educational experience for its over 18,000 students. As a predominantly undergraduate institution, its mission is to discover, integrate, articulate, and apply knowledge. It does so by emphasizing teaching; engaging in research; participating in local, state, national, and international communities with which it pursues common interests; and, where appropriate, providing students with the experience of direct involvement with the actual challenges of their disciplines in the United States and abroad. Cal Poly is a partner on two WIRED projects, listed below. Tasks: Project 3.4 - Systems Training Engineering: - With partners, create a catalogue of systems engineering courses within the California Innovation Corridor to address an identified skills gap. - Complete a demonstration training for 20 incumbent engineers with a need for systems engineering skills, and train an additional 80 incumbent engineering trainees. Project 3.5 - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Collaborative Action Plan (STEMCAP): - Cal Poly's participation in this project with its other partners will support STEMCAP in reaching its goal of establishing a liaison relationship with a major California education system Steering Committee partner. - Through its significant contribution to the Steering Committee, the Forums, and the STEM Action Plan, Cal Poly will help optimize the Corridor for innovation and 21st Century competitiveness.
